Isabella's Story
B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

In Remission
In July 2018, Isabella complained of a sore throat and had been losing her color. For a little girl who is usually early to rise, her mom knew something was wrong when Isabella slept in. When she awoke, her skin-tone had lost all of its color and it was evident something was wrong. Within minutes after her pediatrician ran a blood test, they received the devastating news that Isabella had leukemia. She was life-flighted to Denver where she was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After completing her initial rounds of chemotherapy in Denver, Isabella was cleared to return to Montana for treatment.
During her treatment, she took multiple medications twice a day and traveled to Billings, MT weekly for chemotherapy. Because Isabella was immunodeficient due to her battle with cancer, she was not able to attend daycare and her mom was no longer able to work. The loss of income of a parent is one of many challenges that many families face due to the cancer diagnosis of a child. Isabella successfully completed treatment in September 2020.
